Empowering Single Mothers Toward a Sustainable Future

In the last decade, housing prices in Clallam County have soared far beyond the reach of many single-mother households. These fragile families are increasingly forced into heartbreaking choices- remaining in unhealthy relationships just to afford rent, or juggling part-time work and unstable housing with little hope of ever owning a home.

Houses of Light exists to change that.

Rather than merely offering temporary relief, our mission is to empower single mothers to move forward with strength, stability, and purpose. We believe that homeownership, financial independence, and spiritual formation are not only possible- they’re essential for breaking the cycle of generational hardship.

Our Vision

On a scenic ridge in Sequim, Washington, adjacent to Little Foot Farm, we have access to several parcels of land. Our plan is to build a modest but beautiful A-frame home for a single mother and her children, alongside a 600 sq. ft. ADU (accessory dwelling unit) tucked into the hillside in a charming hobbit-hole style.

This ADU will function as a short-term rental and general revenue to financially sustain the household. My wife Beverly and I have extensive experience running Travel Experience Lodging, a successful short-term rental business. We are confident each ADU will produce more than enough income to cover the family’s monthly needs.

Travel Experience Lodging

How It Works

  • Rent is placed in a dedicated savings account for a future down payment.

  • Mothers are trained to manage and clean the short-term rental.

  • Weekly Bible studies, Financial Peace University, mentorship, and personal support.

  • In partnership with Little Foot Farm, families gain access to fresh, farm-to-table food and meaningful work.

A Scalable Self-Sustaining Model

After the first two homes are completed, revenue from the ADUs will allow future homes to be built without further fundraising. We estimate that within two years, a third lot can be added. From there, the model becomes scalable and self-funding, expanding to serve even more families in need.
